For his eyes only…

“A man falls in love through his eyes, a woman through her ears.”

“Whether the Woodrow Wyatt quote is completely accurate, one thing is certain, as a rule men do tend to be visual, and few things warm their hearts as much as a beautiful image of their beloved.”

That observation came from a friend, Joie de Vivre, who manages a variety of sites and blogs focusing on women and true beauty.  The current interest in tasteful and elegant boudoir photography bears her statement out, as I have found with the rising number of calls I receive for these kinds of shoots.

Joie goes on, “Our collective tastes are changing.  We no longer feel the need to look like 16 year old waifs, but rather are beginning to celebrate our femininity as fully-formed women, mentally, emotionally, and ‘curvally’…

For a bride-to-be the gift of trust and commitment represented by intimate photographic images has melted the heart of many a groom.  This is often even more strikingly true for a woman with a slew of wedding anniversaries under her garter….. who has born and raised children and may no longer fit into her wedding dress.  When such a woman gives her husband an album brimming with alluring photos capturing her beauty as she is now, it can make her man feel like a king.”

Being a female photographer who herself did this very thing for my own husband when I lost a significant amount of weight a few years back, I can vouch for this first hand.  And I know exactly what the women are feeling when taking these kinds of shots.  So I make every effort to ensure these shoots are fun, relaxed and worry-free… with good music and mimosas flowing, and friends of the model welcomed to help her feel comfortable.  My clients get an absolute kick out of seeing me in my Nikes and jeans, rolling on the floor, preening and flipping my hair  demonstrating potential poses.

And within moments my clients seem like seasoned Victoria’s Secret models, at ease with both the camera and their own bodies.  Every woman is different.  Every shoot is different.  But each shoot is a meaningful experience I cherish.  To witness a woman embracing her beauty and femininity makes for some of the most gorgeous photos I have ever taken…. but I’m afraid you can’t see them here… as they are for his eyes only…..
